Simon Shaw studied at Wirral College of Art and Design, and then Braintree College in Essex. After Employment as a Ceramicist in several UK companies he established his own workshop in his native Merseyside in 1988. He continued to produce thrown tin-glazed tableware until 1995, in conjunction with lecturing on a part-time basis at Wirral Metropolitan College.

Tony Laverick was born in Sunderland in 1961. He studied Ceramics at Preston Polytechnic where he was awarded a Distinction from the Society of Designer Craftsmen. He then worked in the pottery industry in Stoke on Trent, including 2 years as a designer for Coalport China (part of the Wedgwood group). He left in 1988 and set up his own studio in Leek, Staffordshire where he still works.

Kathryn O’Kell studied at Wolverhampton Polytechnic (1984-87) and Mid Cheshire College of Art and Design (1983-84). She now lives and works in Worcestershire. Her carved relief panels in English lime make use of traditional hand-carving techniques to depict birds. Often images are cropped and only glimpses of the bird are seen, as if in passing.
